This walk provides a simple circular route to reach this 12th century chapel. There's quite a climb for the final ascent, but it's nothing an average fit person can't handle, and the views from the top are well worth the effort.

A short walk to the historic windmill of Monolithos. This is a traditional Rhodian mill with a cylindrical stone tower and a distinctive timber cap with a conical roof. The windmill offers a panoramic view of the Aegean Sea and the nearby islets. It is one of the finest examples of medieval Greek technology and a symbol of the the village's and the island's rich heritage.

Salakos and the Butterfly River Walk

The Butterfly River cascades down through the wooded valley to the east of the village of Salakos. The well trod path that follows this river climbs to the head of the stream where the area of the Nymph springs makes a fitting finale of this walk. Plenty of views, plenty of shady lush vegetation and, of course plenty of butterflies.

A relatively easy walk out from Lindos, around the bay to the peninsular that is capped with a tomb. This is known as Kleoboulos' tomb, the 6th century BC Lindian whose statue is above Lindos, just off the main road. Kleoboulos is recognised as one of the seven sages of ancient Greece.

Feraklos castle stands guard above the village of Haraki. The castle is in ruins but is extensive in size. It is a rough scramble to get into the castle walls but worth the effort in order to admire this site which is the size of a small village. There is an information board in Heraki that details the history and archaeology of the area.

The route takes tracks across country from the village of Afandou to the road that leads up to the monastery that nestles in the low hills. One will not be disappointed by this richly decorated monastery and one can take the serenity and peacefulness to rest before the final stretch to the crossroads at Kolympia, having to cross the dry river bed of the Loutanis river where the extensive nine arched bridge has been washed away in recent years.

Easy Walk from Pefkos to Lardos

A simple 4.5 mile walk to the village of Lardos

This is such a simple walk and one to introduce any newcomer visiting Pefkos to something more of the nature of the island and its people. Lardos is a working village located a mile or so inland with a busy square that is a hubbub of activity. Although the direct route to the village is to follow the road, this alternative route passes by the Stafilia mountain where the ruins of Lardos castle can be seen looking out across the valley.
