This 9.6 km (6 mile) linear route between the coastal resort at Kolimbia and the mountain village of Psinthos is rewarded in the charming beauty of the destination with its typical Rhodian church behind the village square flanked by numerous Tavernas offering their wares. It is worth seeking out the water course that flows from the Fasouli springs on the edge of the village, culminating in a lake filled with Gizani fish.

High above Pefkos sits a tiny monastery of Prophet Elias, adjacent to the huge cross that guards the village and shines like a beacon in the night. This walk provides a simple circular route to reach this 12th century chapel. There's quite a climb for the final ascent, but it's nothing an average fit person can't handle, and the views from the top are well worth the effort.

The mountain side is the location of the reputed Mussolini's Villa which is now a dilapidated ruin. with outstanding views from the summit it is worth persevering over the more strenuous final climb to the top.

Salakos to Saint Nikolaos, Fountoukli

A straight forward walk along broad tracks that directly link Salakos and the area of Fountoukli

This extensive but easy going hike follows a track through the hills from the village of Salakos to the medieval church of Saint Nikolaos, Fountoukli (Ιερός Ναός Αγίου Νικολάου Φουντουκλί) which is renowned for its medieval interior artwork. There is a Taverna close to church which is open out of season (September to May) and makes a perfect place for refreshment.

Salakos and the Butterfly River Walk

The Butterfly River cascades down through the wooded valley to the east of the village of Salakos. The well trod path that follows this river climbs to the head of the stream where the area of the Nymph springs makes a fitting finale of this walk. Plenty of views, plenty of shady lush vegetation and, of course plenty of butterflies.

Walk to Kleoboulos' Tomb

A relatively easy walk out from Lindos, around the bay to the peninsular that is capped with a tomb. This is known as Kleoboulos' tomb, the 6th century BC Lindian whose statue is above Lindos, just off the main road. Kleoboulos is recognised as one of the seven sages of ancient Greece.

A scenic walk meanders up into the hills behind Kiotari to the sleepy little village of Asklipio with its folklore museum, enchanting church full of medieval frescos and above it all, the castle. There is a broad track throughout and navigation is easy. Return is by the road but this has some equally spectacular views that would be missed in the fleeting glimpses from a car.

Haraki to Kalathos

A 5.5 mile walk along the Rhodes coast from Haraki to Kalathos

Although short, this is a good afternoons walk along the beach around the bay between the two villages of Haraki and Kalathos. Once out of Haraki the beach becomes deserted of people with the barren land dotted with olive trees on one side and the deep blue sea on the other. The beach is shingle and can become heavy going but for some of the distance there is a dirt track just beyond the beach which makes for easier walking. Take it easy, with stops to dip ones feet in the sea and this makes a relaxing introduction to Rhodes walking.
