Easy Walk from Pefkos to Lardos

View of the sea

A simple 4.5 mile walk to the village of Lardos

This is such a simple walk and one to introduce any newcomer visiting Pefkos to something more of the nature of the island and its people. Lardos is a working village located a mile or so inland with a busy square that is a hubbub of activity. The route passes by the Stafilia mountain where the ruins of Lardos castle can be seen looking out across the valley.

Discovering the Chapels of Lardos

St Seraphim chapel

A simple wander around Lardos village and the countryside beyond

This simple little stroll negotiates a route around Lardos visiting its numerous chapels. This includes following the track out to the chapel of Saint Seraphin which is located in the countryside to the north west of the village. Also included are the chapels of St Symeon, Saint Savvas and The holy Temple of the Brigadiers which, if nothing else, is the best dedication that one can ever come by. A great way to pass a couple of hours exploring

A Circular Walk to the Monastery of Prophet Elias (Pefkos Cross)

View from the Chapel

A 2 mile circular walk from Pefkos village to the Monastery of Prophet Elias

High above Pefkos sits a tiny monastery of Prophet Elias, adjacent to the huge cross that guards the village and shines like a beacon in the night. This walk provides a simple circular route to reach this 12th century chapel. There's quite a climb for the final ascent, but it's nothing an average fit person can't handle, and the views from the top are well worth the effort.
